Family Day at Wesselman
Woods Nature Preserve
Bring the family out
for a full day of family birding fun as participants
learn about birds and their habitats! Free.
8:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve.

Hands-on Spring
Bird Banding Workshop (8:00 AM-9:30 AM) presented by
naturalist, Scott Kramer. Free. Come and help Scott
with an ongoing conservation project as he catches,
identifies, bands, and releases birds from the Nature
Preserve. This is a great opportunity for spotting
early migratory birds, so bring a camera!
Family Activities,
Games, Crafts (10:00 AM-2:00 PM) Free. Presented by
members of the Evansville Audubon Society and Southwest
Indiana Master Naturalist Association. Over a dozen
fun, educational activities for kids of all ages! Some
of the activities are: making binoculars and going on a
Bird Safari; finding birds during a Scavenger Hunt;
competing in the Bird Olympics; making a feeder to take
home; planting some seeds that will attract birds to
your yard; and making a tile bird hanging.
Live Raptor Show
(10:00 AM-11:00 AM), presented by WWNP naturalist,
Lauren Preske. Free.
Drawing Owls
(11:00 AM-12:00 PM), at the Nature Center. Free.
Presented by Leanne Leach, EVSC art teacher. Using a
live owl from the raptor show, Leanne will show everyone
how to create a pencil drawing.
Owl Pellet
Dissection (12:00-1:00 PM). Free. "Presented
by Master Naturalist, Hillery Koontz."
Participants
will learn about native owls, their hunting habits and
physiology. Each participant will dissect a sterilized
owl pellet to see what exciting remnants it contains!

Making a
Birdhouse/Bird Feeder from Gourds (1:00 PM to 1:30 PM).
Free. Demonstration by Master Naturalist, Debbie Goedde.
Birdhouse Building with
Home Depot (2:00
PM-3:00 PM). Free. Join Home Depot employees for a
fun workshop where you can build your own birdhouse.
All materials will be supplied, while supplies last.
The Wonderful
World of Birds (7:00 PM) presented by
Bill Vieth, local
photographer. Free. This program is a collection of
bird photographs from around the world showing portraits
and behavior of various species. Don’t
miss Bill’s presentation at the University of
Evansville’s new School of Business, 1800 Lincoln Av.,
Room SB 170.
